DUBLIN, Ohio (WTVN) -- Whoever stole a large golf ball sculpture from Dublin beat the deadline to return it without charges being pressed. However, the sculpture was damaged.
The sculpture was found late Saturday morning in the 8200 block of Dublin Road.
The ball and its base were discovered missing Monday morning. The art work is worth about $2,500, meaning the theft was a felony crime.
On Wednesday, Dublin officials offered immunity if the ball was returned by midnight today.
Dublin will have to pay to have the ball repaired.
“This public art project was created for Dublin and the world to enjoy. This type of further action will not be tolerated,” Dublin Community Relations Director Sandra Puskarcik said.
