In a season of history making events, the Blue Jackets had another one Sunday. The Jackets beat New Jersey 4-1 Sunday, clinching a playoff berth with 11 games to go in the season. It's the earliest the Jackets have ever wrapped up a post-season appearance.
The win also gives the Jackets 100 points---first time they've ever reached that mark. Even though they're in the playoffs, a lot will be decided over the final three weeks of the regular season. The Jackets and Washington are tied for the Metropolitan Division lead--and for the race to have the best record in the NHL. Just one point behind though, are the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Also with 99 points, is Western Conference leader Chicago. It should be fun down the stretch, and in the post-season.
Here's a look at some of Sunday's highlights in what was an unusual win. The Jackets scored two penalty shot goals--one by Lucas Sedlak and the other by Brandon Dubinsky. The Sedlack goal and one of Boone Jenner's two goals were short handed. Meanwhile--Sergei Bobrovsky continued to be outstanding, making 35 saves.
