Urban Meyer Updates Buckeye Spring Practice

Six practices into spring ball, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is feeling good about his Buckeyes--especially after their Tuesday morning workout.

"I like what's going on with the offensive staff as far as install (of the offense) and where we're at," Meyer said. "Overall, I'm very pleased. I just like good attitude and good efforts and we'll fix all the other stuff. The guys came out this morning with a great jump in their step and it was really a good day today."

If you're looking for a player who had made a move this spring, look no further than junior receiver Parris Campbell. Meyer said he's become maybe the best play-maker on the team and right now has the inside track to replace the departed Curtis Samuel at H-Back.

"He's dynamic. He was a running back in high school--a big dude that can run and catch and he's that guy right now," Meyer said of Campbell's potential move to H-Back. "But K.J. Hill (is also playing well)...I'm not sure K.J. Hill is not one of our top two, top three receivers, so we're still playing around with who is going to play where but (H-Back) is a huge position for us."

Among the other noteworthy comments from Meyer Tuesday, was his praise of the group of 10 new Buckeyes who enrolled early and are going through spring football for the first time. One of the 10, JUCO transfer defensive back Kendall Sheffield has already had the black stripe removed from his helmet--indicating that he's become a full fledged Buckeye--but Meyer said the group as a whole has been impressive.

"It may be the best group that we've had come in," Meyer said. "Just a very mature group...I love this group...They're all good students, they're all taking care of there business and they're progressing at a very rapid (rate). A lot of those guys are going to play."
