COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Central Ohio drivers had to dig a lot deeper this past week to fill up their gas tanks.

According to GasBuddy.com, prices rose more than 14 cents a gallon, averaging about $2.42.

The website found that while some stations in northwest Columbus are selling gas for as little as $2.16 a gallon, others in the Polaris area, are getting $2.79.

AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report shows the statewide average for a gallon of unleaded at $2.36, up seven cents from last week.

By contrast, the national average stands at $2.39, just three cents more than a week earlier.

"Prices have seen little change and as we continue to progress into the summer, we're seeing gas prices now roughly the same as a year ago in many places, said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.
