Documentary filmmakers Morgan Spurlock and Stephanie Soechtig are teaming up with activist Erin Brockovich to produce The Devil We Know, a film aiming to expose the dark side of C8, a toxic industrial chemical created by DuPont to make Teflon and other products. The film is currently in postproduction and just launched an Indiegogo campaign to finish the film. The story centers on Spurlock’s hometown of Parkersburg, WVA, where DuPont exposed workers and the community to the chemical. Scientists have linked it to various cancers, high cholesterol and thyroid disease. C8 has also been detected in the drinking water of at least 6.5 million Americans in 27 states.
