NEWARK, Ohio (WTVN) -- Some nerve-wracking moments in Newark Monday as some thought police might be dealing with a random shooter.
However, it turned out to be a fight involving a man and a woman, a fight that left Phillip Parker II, 29, dead and his girlfriend with a gunshot wound.
Newark police say Parker accidentally shot himself during a wreck in his car, then got out at 21st Street and Log Pond Drive and shot the woman.
Parker died a short time later. The girlfriend is expected to recover.
