No national championship try for Buckeyes this year

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- There will be no shot at a national football championship for Ohio State this season.

The Buckeyes were shut out of the College Football Playoff Sunday when the selection committee chose Alabama as the fourth team in the tournament.

Ohio State's consolation prize is a date with USC in the Cotton Bowl on December 29th.

Fans who want to see Ohio State play USC in person can get in line for tickets.

Ohio State received 13-thousand tickets for the game, with sale priority going to season ticket holders, faculty and students.
