NBA Star From Pickerington Gives Back

"Paying it forward" is a motto coined by legendary Ohio State football coach Woody Hayes and is frequently used by Buckeye athletes past and present. On Tuesday we heard from a Michigan man who is following the same credo.

Former Wolverine basketball star and Brooklyn Nets guard Caris Lavert joined my radio co-host Stan Jackson and me on "The Drive" on 105.7, The Zone. Lavert, a native of Pickerington, is hosting a free basketball clinic Sunday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m at his high school alma mater Pickerington Central. The clinic is open for boys and girls from second through eighth grade.

We talked with Lavert not only about the clinic but also, the NBA Finals, the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry, his NBA teammate and former Buckeye D'Angelo Russell and more. Lavert even admitted, while he went to Michigan for basketball and loves Wolverine hoops, he still has a soft spot for Ohio State football. It was a fun interview with a quality guy doing good in his own community. You can check it out here.
