Buckeye Basketball Lands A Stud

The Ohio State basketball program, under Chris Holtmann for the last 13 months, has some momentum. Holtmann is following up his successful first season on the court, with some big time recruiting this off-season. He already had secured a commitment from 5-star forward Alonzo Gaffney and now Holtmann and the Buckeye staff have added another 2019 top prospect. Point guard D.J. Carton out of Bettendorf, Iowa committed to Ohio State after visiting the Buckeyes last week. According to 24-7 Sports, Carton is the 21st ranked overall prospect in the country and the No. 2 ranked point guard. It gives Ohio State two top-30 players already with Holtmann hoping to add one more prospect.

Steve Helwagen, of Bucknuts and 24-7 Sports has covered Ohio State Basketball for nearly 30 years. He joined me on "The Drive" on 105.7, The Zone Monday to discuss the Carton commitment. Steve appeared moments after the news had broken of the tragic death of former Ohio State defensive end Mike Kudla, who passed away at the age of 34. We started the conversation there and then went on to discuss Buckeye hoops. You can check out the interview here.
