Rec centers helping Columbus stay cool

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Four community recreation centers in Columbus will be open Tuesday to help residents have a place to cool off from the expected extreme temperatures.

Beatty Community Center on N. Ohio Avenue, Dodge Center on Sullivant Avenue, Whetstone Center on N. High Street, and the Far East Center on Lattimer Drive will all be open from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

In addition, the senior facilities at Barnett, Gillie, Marion Franklin, Dodge, Whetstone, and Martin Janis will be open until 5 p.m.

The remaining Columbus rec centers will be closed but are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday with regular hours.
