Dr. Strauss Accuser Sentenced for Phone Harassment

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--The first former Ohio State University athlete to report allegations of sexual misconduct against former team Doctor Richard Strauss was given a suspended prison sentence on an unrelated criminal charge.

One time Ohio State wrestler Michael DiSabato was sentenced yesterday to 180 days in jail for telephone harassment.

DiSabato was convicted of the charges in a Marysville Municipal Court back in August after he repeatedly sent text messages to a Dublin area attorney in violation of a cease and desist order.

Judge Michael Grigsby suspended the jail sentence, meaning DiSabato will not be incarcerated but will be placed on three years probation.

DiSabato accused Dr. Richard Strauss of inappropriately touching him while Dr. Strauss worked as a team physician. Dr. Strauss worked for the university from the late-1970's to the late 1990's. Dr. Strauss died in 2005.

The university continues to investigate the claims made by former students and student-athletes against Dr. Strauss, with that investigation now costing over $1.5-million.
