Teenager Arrested at CMH, Trying to Train with ISIS

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Federal Prosecutors say a Beavercreek man has been arrested at John Glenn International Airport, before he could board a plane to train with ISIS overseas.

The US District Attorney's Office says 19-year-old Naser Almadaoji was taken into custody Wednesday at the airport. Prosecutors allege he was destined to travel through Kazakhstan to Afghanistan to train with the terror organization.

Almadaoji explained to an individual whom he believed to be in contact with ISIS that he wanted “weapons experts training, planning, executing, hit and run, capturing high value targets, ways to break into homes and avoid security guards. That type of training.”

Prosecutors also allege that between February 16th and 24th of this year, Almadaoji traveled to Egypt and Jordan for the same purpose. He also communicated with an individual he believed to be connected to ISIS in August.

Almadaoji is charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
