More Mt. Carmel Employees on Leave Amid Death Investigations

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Mount Carmel Hospital is suspending three employees amid an investigation into dozens of cases of lethal amounts of pain medication given to patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Hospital officials said Tuesday they had placed three more employees on administrative leave, bringing the total number to 23 staff members including some on the management team.

The suspensions come as eight wrongful death lawsuits have been filed against Mount Carmel and Doctor William Husel who is suspected of ordering fatal doses of fentanyl and other drugs for at least 34 patients.

Columbus homicide detectives are now involved and say they are reviewing the cases.
