ODOT Wants to Change More Speed Limits on Interstates

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking for permission to change speed limits on the interstates across the state.

ODOT officials want lawmakers to give the department broader authority to change speed limits with the use of electric signs.

The signs would set speeds based on road conditions, weather, and traffic congestion, which experts say would improve traffic flow.

Currently, the variable speed limit signs are being used on I-90 in Lake County, east of Cleveland, but plans are to install them next on I-670 East in Columbus.
