CPD Officer Shot, Recovering in the Hospital

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Columbus Police officers is recovering in the hospital, after being shot in East Linden late Thursday.

Police describe the incident near the corner of East Hudson Street and McGuffey as an ambush, with the officer working undercover, and one of three suspects in an SUV opening fire on the officer just before 11PM.

That officer is described as being in stable condition at OSU Wexner Medical Center.

The officer was able to relay information about the suspect vehicle to dispatchers, and a car matching that description was pulled over in Whitehall, near the intersection of East Broad Street and Yearling.

Three suspects were taken into custody there, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle,

No names have been released yet, either of the officer or suspects.
