Six-Year-Old Child, Unborn Baby Die in West Side Crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A six-year-old girl died, and her mother and sister were hospitalized, after they were struck by a car while crossing Roberts Road on Thursday.

Columbus Police say the incident occurred just before 2PM at Roberts and Hickory Mill. The car heading eastbound struck all three of them.

The mother, Tiffany Bronson, was taken to Grant Hospital for treatment. Doctors performed an emergency C-section on Bronson, who was pregnant, but the baby was stillborn.

The daughters, Emily and Elizabeth Ashbrook, were taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital for treatment. Emily did not survive.

Neighbors tell ABC-6 they frequently saw the family cross the road, where the speed limit is 45 miles an hour, and there are no crosswalks, so the family could visit a relative living in a nearby apartment complex.

The driver is cooperating with authorities, and so far has not been charged.
