OHSP Police Officer Suing for Race Discrimination

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--A police officer in the Ohio State Highway Patrol is suing the state for discrimination.

Officer Norma Scott claims she has been the target of harassment, investigations for minor infractions, and has been denied special duty assignments because of her skin color.

Scott is a police officer, which is different from a Trooper, as police officers provide security at state-owned facilites and buildings.

Scott is the only african-american female police officer employed by the OSHP.

She has been with the Patrol since 2013. The Highway Patrol did not comment on the lawsuit citing department policy.
