Columbus City Schools Closed Again on Wednesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--For a 2nd straight day, classes in the Columbus City School district are canceled, due to excessive heat and humidity.

Temperatures set a record on Tuesday, and it's a similar forecast for Wednesday. Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon says many of the buildings do not have adequate air conditioning, and if the temperatures do not cool off enough in the evenings and overnight, then the buildings do not cool down either.

She says she considered calling for an early release on Tuesday, but that would not get students home any quicker, since they handle transportation for over 40,000 students.

As for Thursday, Dr. Dixon says at this point, she expects classes to be back in session, with the forecast calling for slightly cooler weather.
