New Travel Policy Approved for Columbus City School Board Members

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Members of the Columbus City Schools Board of Education have new travel regulations.

In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the board approved changes to their own by-laws. They include no reimbursement of travel expenses for board members that schedule a trip within six months of their term expiring, and no more than three members taking a trip out-of-state at one time.

Board approval would be needed to send additional members on out-of-state trips.

The move follows an investigation by ABC-6 that showed the board spent $10,000 to send four members to a conference in Miami in September.

Two of the members have terms that are expiring at the end of the year, and they did not run for re-election.
