CPD Breaks Up 2 Large House Parties

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police spent Saturday night breaking up two large house parties within close proximity to each other, and within minutes of each other.

One of the calls was to a home along Jackson Street, near Nationwide Children's Hospital, where about 60 people were gathered. Police were called there by a concerned neighbor, and while investigating, officers recovered several illegal guns.

At least one person is facing weapons charges as a result.

Also on Saturday, officers were called to a report of a fight at a home along Oakwood Avenue. There, about 30 people fled the scene when police arrived.

CPD says both gatherings are in violation of the Governor's order against groups of 10 or more. Both of the parties were held at Airbnb rentals, which have been deemed essential by the state of Ohio during the Coronavirus pandemic.
