COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is allowing hospitals across the state to resume elective surgeries, with some stipulations.
DeWine originally ordered the procedures postponed as part of his stay-at-home order in March, so the medical equipment could be used for Coronavirus patients.
Under the new rules, hospitals are required to inform patients of the risk of contracting Coronavirus if they proceed with the surgery.
DeWine also advised doctors to reach out to patients who had their surgeries postponed, and evaluate their status.
He adds that some of the surgeries he had no intention of postponing in his order.
DeWine is slowly rolling back restrictions on businesses, as the situation warrants, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
As of Wednesday, there were over 14,000 cases in Ohio, and 610 deaths.
