COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Wednesday laid out his preferred guidelines for how schools handle graduation ceremonies, during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
DeWine says the preferred method would be for schools to hold a virtual graduation ceremony, conducted online instead of in-person, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, and to promote social distancing.
DeWine says a system where students "drive thru" at a certain day and time to receive their diploma is also an acceptable method of conducting a graduation ceremony.
A 3rd method would be to hold a small ceremony with less than 10 people, while maintaining proper social distancing standards.
DeWine added that graduation parties should not be held at this time, since they pose a greater risk of spreading the virus than the actual ceremony.
