Three Dead, Nearly a Dozen Shot in Weekend Shootings

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police are busy investigating eight shootings over the weekend, that left a combined three people dead, and at least 10 people shot.

It all started Friday night in the Arena District, with three people getting shot in the midst of a fight near the intersection of Spruce and School Streets. A 23-year-old woman died as a result there.

Early Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a shooting along Gerbert Road. A 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, as the home was the target of a drive-by shooting the night before.

Shortly after that report, Police responded to the area of McCarley Drive East, on a report of a shooting. A 25-year-old man was found shot in the parking lot located there, and was taken to the hospital, but later passed away.

There are now 67 homicides in Columbus in 2020, with that pace slightly ahead of the homicide rate in Columbus for 2019.
