COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is asking the state's Liquor Control Commission to issue an order ending the sale of alcohol at bars and restaurants by 10PM each day.
DeWine made the request Thursday, with the commission meeting Friday morning. If it is approved, it would take effect immediately. Patrons would be allowed to finish their drinks by 11PM.
DeWine says the order is meant to help stop the spread of coronavirus, with outbreaks connected to bars in many cities in Ohio.
The city of Columbus passed a similar measure earlier this week, which closed the establishments at 10PM, but it was challenged in court, and a Franklin County Judge issued a temporary injunction, preventing the order from taking effect.
