COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine delivered the news on Tuesday that thousands of student-athletes and parents have been waiting for--that high school sports can proceed this fall, under strict coronavirus guidelines.

DeWine says spectators for all sports will be limited to the parents of the student-athletes, and those that are very close to the student-athletes.

The decision on whether to play will also be left up to the individual schools. DeWine says even if a school is only holding classes virtually, sports will be allowed to proceed.

DeWine says the order will also apply to colleges, and is asking everyone to be safe, including student-athletes, coaches, and fans.
