COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--It's a major point in the fight against the coronavirus in Ohio, with those age 80 and older eligible to receive a vaccine, beginning Monday.

It begins phase 1-B of the state's vaccination plan, with healthcare workers and nursing home residents offered the first vaccines in phase 1-A.

There are over 100 vaccination sites around central Ohio. Many of them are operated by appointment only, with registration through healthcare website, or local county health departments.

Governor Mike DeWine says for those 80 and older, there are only about 100,000 doses of vaccine available, but the population in that category is about 400,000.

Following those age 80 and older, Ohioans age 75 and older are eligible to receive a vaccine on January 25th, those age 70 and older February 1st, and those 65 and older February 8th.
