COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio House and Senate both successfully voted to override Governor Mike DeWine's veto of Senate Bill 22.
The vote in the senate Wednesday was 23-10, and 62-35 in the house. The law now takes effect in 90 days.
Governor DeWine vetoed the legislation on Tuesday, saying it threatens public safety, and opens up the state to lawsuits.
Senate Bill 22 limits new health orders to a maximum 90 days, and can be amended or rescinded by the state legislature.
Health orders can also be renewed for 60-day increments under the law.
The legislation was in response to what many GOP lawmakers saw as government overreach, when it came to the health orders issued during the coronavirus pandemic.
