Four Dead From Crash on I-71 in Delaware County

DELAWARE, Ohio (WTVN)--A fiery crash on I-71 Monday night left four people dead, and shut down the highway for hours.

The State Highway Patrol says it happened around 8PM along 71 south, about four miles north of the Polaris exit, and involved three vehicles.

It started with a northbound truck that lost control and crossed the median, hitting a semi-truck, that also collided with an SUV.

Two of the vehicles involved caught fire.

Four people in the SUV died as a result. The driver of the truck was taken to Grant Hospital, with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

71 South was closed at 36/37 for several hours as a result, but reopened just after Midnight on Tuesday.
