WASHINGTON, DC (WTVN)--There's more jockeying for critical political races in Ohio for 2022.
On Monday, northeast Ohio congressman Tim Ryan announced he is running for US Senate next year. He is the 1st democrat to announce a run for the seat being vacated by Republican Rob Portman in 2022.
Ryan made his intentions known in a video released on Monday.

Ryan has represented the Akron and Youngstown areas in congress since 2003.
He joins the field of at least two Republicans seeking the senate seat--former Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken, and former Ohio Treasurer of State Josh Mandel.
