COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--In an effort to get more people vaccinated against coronavirus in Columbus, City Council on Monday approved the "vaccine green" program.

It offers $100 to those who get vaccinated against coronavirus, beginning Tuesday, June 15th, and Live in Columbus. Participants will receive $50 for each dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or $100 all at once for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Council members say the program is meant to eliminate barriers for those still not vaccinated, like taking time off of work or finding childcare.

The program is being administered by the Columbus Urban League, but only has about $275,000, so 2,750 people will be getting the money.

Participants need to register through the Columbus Urban League to receive the payment.
