COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--With NCAA student-athletes now permitted to profit from the use of their name, image, and likeness, five members of the 2010 Ohio State Football team are asking the NCAA to have the season records restored.
Former Quarterback Terrelle Pryor signed the letter, along with former Buckeye Running Back Daniel "Boom" Herron, former Wide Receiver DeVier Posey, former Offensive Tackle Mike Adams, and Solomon Thomas.
The letter was posted to twitter on Tuesday, saying acknowledging the accomplishments are a step in the right direction.
Ohio State vacated the records and statistics from the 2010 season, after the players were found to have traded memorabilia they received from the university for tattoos and cash. The team went 12-1 that year, including winning the Big Ten Championship and winning the 2011 Sugar Bowl Against Arkansas.
The NCAA suspended the student-athletes involved, but allowed them to play in the Sugar Bowl.
Head Coach Jim Tressel also resigned prior to the start of the 2011 season, after it was discovered he withheld information from the NCAA about the investigation, and that he knew about the situation.
The players also want Tressel's legacy restored at Ohio State.
