Man Shot After Running from Crash Scene, Shooting at Officers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A man who ran from the scene of a hit-skip crash and shot at law enforcement officers was shot and is in the hospital.

Columbus Police say officers and deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene along West Broad Street, near I-270, just before 9PM Wednesday.

A man was speaking to a CPD officer and sheriff's deputy when he ran, and fired at least one shot at the officers. The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect once.

The man involved was taken to the hospital, and is expected to make it. No officers were injured.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the probe, which includes examining CPD body cam footage.
