Dr. Angela Chapman Named New CCS Superintendent

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--There is a new Superintendent for the Columbus City School district.

The CCS Board of Education emerged from behind closed doors in their special meeting Tuesday to name Dr. Angela Chapman the new leader.

The two other candidates were Dr. Brian McDonald of Pasadena, California, and Dr. Eric Thomas of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Chapman has ben serving as the district's Interim Superintendent since the resignation of Dr. Talisa Dixon in December. Dr. Chapman has been the CCS Chief of Transformation and Leadership since 2019.

Prior to joining CCS, Dr. Chapman served in the District of Columbia Public Schools, with other previous positions in Massillon City Schools, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, and in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights city schools.
