It was not a good week to be a top 25 college basketball team. The nation's ranked teams combined to lose 17 games. Five of the top 10 suffered losses, including No. 1 Duke's 27 point setback to Miami. It was also a week that saw one ranked team, Marquette, have a game delayed due to a bat attack.

If you didn't see it, I have the video posted below. Midway through the second half of Marquette's victory over Providence Saturday, the bat, which had somehow found its way into the Bradley Center, dive-bombed the players and officials on the court. Eventually, the lights were turned down and the bat--apparently--went away.

As for the rankings this week, they're sure to jumble quite a bit. More than likely Michigan, who was ranked second in the overall AP poll last week, will be the new number one. Assuming it happens, it will be the first time the Wolverines have been the nation's top ranked team since November of 1992, when the 'Fab Five' were sophomores.

It was a tough call, but on my ballot I went with Kansas over Michigan for number one. A week ago, I had Kansas third and Michigan fourth so I kept them in the same order.

In this particular case, I've been able to see both teams, not only on T.V. but also in person against the Buckeyes and I give the slight edge to the Jayhawks because of their edge in experience and a superior inside game...but it's really splitting hairs. Both teams are terrific and are legitimate contenders for the national title.

The other Big Ten teams on my ballot are Indiana at No. 3, Michigan State at No. 11, the Buckeyes at No. 12 and Wisconsin at No. 23.

In another tough call, I dropped Minnesota out this week. The Gophers, who looked fantastic about three weeks ago, have lost four straight. There's no shame in their one-point loss at Wisconsin, but they also lost at Northwestern. They play Nebraska and Iowa this week. Chances are, with a couple wins, Minnesota will be right back in my top 25.

Here's my latest ballot--followed by the 'bat attack' video.
