Crew fans get more on your favorite team
By Matt McCoy
Few things in basketball are more exciting than a midcourt shot. If you're a Buckeye fan, you'll always remember Evan Turner's buzzer beater at the 2010 Big Ten Tournament. But even Evan would be impressed with Ashlee Arnau.
Ashlee is a cheerleader at William Carey University in Hattisburg, Mississippi. All season, during halftime, she and other members of the squad have entertained fans with cheerleading routines and acrobatic trick shots. None of her attempts had gone in...until Thursday.
Ashlee took a running start, did a front flip, grabbed the ball while she was upside down, then threw it up towards the hoop...swish. What was most amazing to me is how effortless it looked. I've seen a lot of crazy mid-court shots...this one is among the best...and since we're enjoying our favorite mid-court shots...you can never get enough of E.T's hoop, can you? I have that posted below as well.
Happy Anniversary Boys!
In my lifetime, the most stunning upset and exciting sports moment that has captured the entire country, was the 1980 U.S. Hockey Team's 4-3 over Russia in the Olympic semifinals.
I was a freshman in high school, at the Indiana state swimming meet at Ball State when it was announced that the American's had won. ABC did not carry the game live so when we got back to the hotel after preliminaries and watched the replay. Even though we knew the outcome, it was thrilling...especially when Al Michaels made the brilliant "Do you believe in miracles?" call.
That was 33 years ago today, February 22nd. Happy Anniversary Team USA. I still get chills watching this final minute.
