In the world of big time college recruiting, coaches always look for an advantage. Thad Matta had one in his pursuit of 6'8 forward Mickey Mitchell of Plano, Texas.
Mitchell is one of the top high school junior basketball players in the country, rated as a five-star prospect by scout.com. He also happens to be the younger brother, of Buckeye football freshman linebacker Mike Mitchell.
When younger brother visited older brother this week, Mickey was so impressed with the basketball program and facilities that he decided Ohio State was the place for him, committing to Matta's 2015 recruiting class.
The only basketball I've seen Mitchell play is in the highlight videos below and it's obvious, the kid has skills...but maybe the best indication that this is a highly touted prospect are the schools he chose Ohio State over. How does Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and North Carolina grab you?
Mitchell joins 5'9 point guard A.J. Harris out of Dayton, as the early commitments for 2015.
Like most highlight tapes, Mitchell's has a heavy dose of dunks which shows off some of his leaping ability and athleticism. What jumped out at me however was his passing skills. Take a look for yourself.
Murray Moves On
Two weeks ago, Buckeye football coach Urban Meyer suspended sophomore reserve defensive back Najee Murray indefinitely for team rules violations...now Murray has decided to leave the Ohio State program.
Ohio State confirmed Thursday night that Murray has left Ohio State. He was granted a release from his scholarship and plans to transfer to another school.
