The Buckeyes won by 20 over Buffalo last week but the style points for many AP voters were lacking. Ohio State dropped from second to third in the AP but held steady at No. 2 in the coaches poll. As they face another perceived inferior opponent in San Diego State Saturday, do they need a total blowout to restore the confidence of voters? It was among the many topics on Bucksline Thursday night with our panal of Earle Bruce, Stan Jackson and sportsrappup.com's Jeff Rapp.
"At the end of the day you have to pile up wins because no one is going to look back (at the end of the season) at what the week two win looked like," Stan said. "But we want them to play better and we want them all to perform better...(Ohio State) is at home...they should blow this team out."
The most important thing for Earle is not the margin of victory, but overall improvement. That's what the Hall of Fame coach is looking for against the Aztecs.
"One week is not the season," Earle said. "Last week is last week. This week it's San Diego State and they had better be focused on that. Yeah, they have something to prove again. They have to improve and get better. I think that's important."
It was a typical, lively Bucksline, with another great crowd. If you missed the show, you can listen to hour number 1 by going to our podcast page here. To listen to hour number two, go to our podcast page here.
