Teen, man killed in Hilltop gunfire

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Grief counselors are being made available at West High School Tuesday to help students and staff deal with the loss of a student.

Quentin Smith, 17, was a sophomore at the school and was killed Monday when the car he was in was hit by bullets.

Police were called to the area of South Wayne and Palmetto Avenues on reports of gunfire and found Smith in an alley. It's believed he collapsed after getting out of the SUV. Smith was rushed to Mount Carmel West Hospital where he died a short time later.

That gunfire claimed another victim, 33-year old Severen Clayborn.  Police say he was hit by stray bullets while he was asleep in his home on S. Wayne Ave.  Clayborn died at the scene.

Anyone who may know something about the shootings is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS (8477).
