Report: Rep. Jordan Ignored Reports of Sexual Abuse at OSU

(UNDATED) (NBC News)--Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio is being accused of ignoring reports of sexual abuse carried out by a former physician, while serving as an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Ohio State.

A report Tuesday from NBC News cites former wrestlers who claimed to have told Jordan about the abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss.

Jordan denies that he ever knew about the abuse, and denies he was ever told by student-athletes or staff about the abuse. He was on the staff at OSU from 1986 to 1994.

NBC News says former wrestler Mike DiSabato claims Jordan is lying if he did not know what was going on. Two other wrestlers were also cited in the story.

In April, The Ohio State University began in investigation into the conduct by Dr. Strauss served at the university from the 1970's to the mid 1990's, as a physician for many varsity teams and the student health center. Dr. Strauss died in 2005.

Jordan was first elected to congress in 2006, and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of hard line conservatives. His district includes Union and Marion Counties.
