Homeless Man Shot and Killed in the Short North

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A confrontation between two homeless men in the Short North over the weekend resulted in a fatal shooting.

Columbus Police responded to the area of North High Street and West 5th Avenue around 3:30AM Sunday, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound.

Officers talked to witnesses who identified the suspect, and he was taken into custody.

27-year-old Kyshawn Brown is charged with murder. Police found the victim's ID on him, and they also recovered a firearm at the scene.

The nearby church had been serving breakfast to homeless people at the time of the incident.

The victim's ID has not been released, until relatives are notified.

This is Columbus's 46th homicide of 2019.
