COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Humane is expected to file animal cruelty charges against the owner of a pet shop, after hundreds of animals were found in uninhabitable conditions at two locations.
Agents served a warrant at a home on Demorest Road and a store on West Broad Street earlier this week, with nearly 275 animals confiscated.
The animals ranged from dogs and cats, to snakes and other exotic animals. Humane agents say 31 of the animals have died as a result of the abuse.
Agents reacted after numerous customers complained about the conditions of the store, and the health of the animals.
A probable cause hearing on the pending charges for the owner is set for August 21st.
