Liberty Twp. Trustees Reverse EMS Merger Decision

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTVN)--With a new year, the Liberty Township trustees in Delaware County have decided to reverse a decision made by the group in 2019.

The trustees originally approved a merger of emergency response services with Delaware County, saying it would save taxpayer money. The decision was met with criticism, and opponents argued the merger would make response times longer, putting lives at risk.

The trustees reversed the decision on Thursday. They also voted to add three additional firefighters to the staff.

A Former trustee originally proposed the merger, but did not run for re-election in 2019. New trustee Bryan Newell voted in favor of each of the proposals on Thursday.
