Ohio House Democrats Call for Repeal of HB6, & for House Speaker to Resign

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Following the arrest of Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder on bribery and racketeering charges connected to the passage of House Bill 6, Ohio House Democrats will introduce legislation to repeal that bill.

State Representatives Michael Skindell and Michael O'Brien plan to bring the bill up in an attempt to reverse the legislation that sent over $1-billion to Energy Harbor to continue operating the power plants. That money comes from a surcharge added to every Ohioan's electric bill.

House Democrats also called for Householder's resignation. Republicans--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Attorney General Dave Yost, Lieutenant-Governor Jon husted, and Secretary of State Frank LaRose--also called for Householder to resign.

Federal prosecutors allege Householder set up "Generation Now" as a 501(c)4 to lobby against a ballot initiative that would have repealed House Bill 6, with the money funneled from a company believed to be Energy Harbor, formerly FirstEnergy Solutions.

The complaint alleges that Householder benefited personally from some of the $60-million dollars involved in the scheme. Most of the money was used to support Householder's political allies in their elections.
