Columbus Utility Shutoff Moratorium Coming to an End

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A moratorium implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic for utility shutoffs in the city of Columbus is coming to an end.

The city's Department of Public Utilities announced Wednesday that since the health orders have been lifted, customers are now receiving notices that the process for shutting off services for past-due balances will resume Monday, August 23rd.

Residents delinquent on their accounts will be receiving status updates.

Between power and water accounts managed by the city, officials say delinquent accounts total over $20-million.
